drunk on dreams

"Looking to fill a Time to Pretend-shaped hole in your heart?" Asks The Daily Telegraph in an article about up-and-comming artist. Well, call off the search. 23 year old Max McElligott is predicted to be the new MGMT; And with a reason. Under the name Wolf Gang he delivers sweet, fun, lovely synth tones that makes you wanna dance all night long.
It´s hard to get a career in the spotlight. Everybody wants to be the girl with the most cake, but if your blessed with the talent that makes you write and record a whole album by yourself, well, than you might just got what it takes. Max defines himself as "a solo artist, but I play with a band." If the name Wolfgang seems familiar to you, you are probably thinking about one of the worlds most famous composers; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Is there any connection though?
- No, I didn´t think about Mozart when I came up with the name. I thought more of a gang of wolfs. But I do love classic music. The most beautiful ting I know is the sound of a piano.
Ever since boys with guitars and skinny jeans began to categorice their music as "indie" a cupel of years back the genre has been up for debate everywhere. "Indie" was originally the term for unsigned underground bands in Seattle, and the therm is still used by undiscovered bands without a record deal. Wolf Gang categorices his music as a mix between indie, alternative and pop.
- I think the three give a good summary of the genre of music I create, it isn´t straight up pop, there is a slightly weird and wonderful sound to the album. The producer who worked on the album (which will be out around easter), Dave Fridmann, is one of America´s most well respected indie producers. I think indie has become an umbrella term for all sort of interesting music.
